Speaker Problems

Problem: I owned an MP a few years back and found that the audio from the rig speaker was very scratchy. I then used my headset or an external speaker.
 

Solution: A friend suggested that the speaker scratchiness was causes by dust accumulating in the speaker cone and that if I vacuumed it out the problem would be solved. I did this for my 1000Mp and it seemed to do the trick.
